Comedy Castle opened in 1979 and has featured many notable acts on its stage including Tim Allen, Dave Coulier, Mike Binder, Jerry Seinfeld, Paul Reiser, Ron White, Rosie O'Donnell, Jay Leno, Jon Stewart, Dennis Miller, Jim Carrey, Lewis Black, Drew Carey, Kevin James, and Ellen DeGeneres. The club continues to feature some of the best talent in comedy from the country and Canada, and is the only comedy institution to still offer an "Open Mic Night."

The Comedy Castle is located near Oakland Community College, Royal Oak Library, Detroit Zoological Park, Royal Oak Music Theatre, Landmark Main Art Theatre, Stagecrafters Baldwin Theatre, and Rackham Golf Club.
