TCL Chinese Theatre, formerly known as Grauman's Chinese Theatre was built following the success of the nearby Grauman's Egyptian Theatre. Under the direction of Sid Grauman, the theatre was built using lavish materials and artifacts imported from China. Following its grand opening in 1927, the theatre has been used regularly for film premieres and special events, including the 1977 launch of George Lucas's "Star Wars."

Rich in movie history, the Chinese Theatre is also famous for having more than 200 cement handprints, footprints, and autographs of Hollywood celebrities in its forecourt.
