The Baldwin Library was established by Martha Baldwin and her literary club. The group worked tirelessly in collecting books and resources for the residents of Birmingham. After Martha's death, the city built a new library building and named it the "Baldwin Memorial Library" in her honor. Today, the library offers more than 120,000 books, along with periodicals, audiovisuals, educational toys, computers, and other resources to the public.

The library is located near the Birmingham 8, Kroger Retail Center, Birmingham Historical Museum and Park, and Booth Park.
