The Hawaii Theatre Centre originally opened in 1922, and was called by local newspapers at that time the "Pride of the Pacific" for its architecture and opulence. The theatre was used for vaudeville, silent films, and live shows. Today, the Hawaii Theatre hosts stage shows and concerts, and is the last surviving operating historic theatre in Honolulu.
