Heinz Hall is a performing arts center in Pittsburgh's Cultural District that serves as home to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. The building was built in 1927 as a movie palace, and later converted as a music hall in 1971. Major changes were made during the renovations, but much of the building's original grandeur remains including the original one-ton crystal chandelier at the main entrance. The performance center has become a popular venue for concerts and shows due to its excellent sight lines and great acoustics.
