The California State Capitol Museum serves as both a museum and home of the California State Legislature. The heart of the museum can be found on the basement and first floor of the original section of the building, where visitors can watch short films on the history of the Capitol and tour the restored historic offices of the Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Governor of California, as well as two rotating exhibit rooms. Self-guided and guided tours are available, and visitors have a chance to watch the Legislature at work when it is in session.
