McPherson Square is named after James B. McPherson, a major general who fought in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Logan Circle is a traffic circle, neighborhood, and historic district in the Northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. This primarily residential neighborhood includes two historic districts, properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and sites designated as D.C. Historic Landmarks.
