The Irish in Philadelphia first celebrated St. Patrick's Day in 1771, years before the Declaration of Independence was signed. As a long-lived tradition, this year's Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held on Sunday, March 13 starting at 9:15 AM at St. Patrick's Church, 20th and Locusts Streets Philadelphia. There will be thousands of marchers and spectators in green ensembles, bands and floats honoring the Irish-American heritage, and special musical performances to entertain the crowd.
